Exams are over!
Exams are over so now I’m back to politics. Have been doing a lot of reading about all sorts over the past few days from globalisation to the NHS and housing and back.
We live in a world that is increasingly dominated by the interests of big business: these interests impoverish millions in the ‘develop-ing’ (and ‘developed’!) worlds, these interests have destroyed our NHS which was once envied by the world, they have caused a crisis in our housing and deny people the world over of medications (be the HIV medsĀ or expensive chemotherapy for cancer).
At the very least we must stand and be counted for our objections to a system that is so unjust. In the process, I hope that real change and real progress is effected but these can only happen with a wholesale change in not only the corporate dominance over governments but also a change in our power structures.
Green Politics isn’t about sacrifice, it is about taking supreme pleasure in the world around us in a society based on mutual respect and understanding where the material needs of everyone are met and where the wealth of our planet is used to benefit us all rather than a small elite.

Apologies
No posts for far too long! Apologies, I’ve been incredibly busy… exams just a week or so away. I promise I will post more often once I get back from my 3 week holiday after exams!!!
Gordon Brown’s new premiership looks very different, and perhaps there will be some positive changes to UK politics as a result of his premiership but he essentially subscribes to the view of neo-liberal economics and thus is highly unlikely to tackle the root of the problems we encounter. We need to move into a new era of the economics of co-operation in the place of the economics of competition: an era where economics is a means to an end not an end in itself.
Sorry for such a seemingly ‘out of the blue’ post, but I can’t manage anything much more substantial right now. May post again in true procrastinatory spirit later!
